Italian Textile Machinery Digital Certification Project

Dornbirn 2020: 12:05… Austrian Minister of Climate Action Leonore Gewessler hosted the virtual Dornbirn Man-made Fibers Conference 2020
The Italian Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers ACIMIT initiated a project to define a form of digital certification that Italian manufacturers can use to prove the easy integration of their machines into their customers’ production systems.
“The first step of the project is to develop a shared reference vocabulary for Italian textile machinery manufacturers, thereby creating a conceptual model of machine and process production management data that can be used for textile manufacturers to identify and calculate relevant and effective KPIs ( Key performance indicators).” ACIMIT said.
The model was developed by the manufacturing team of the Management School of the Politecnico di Milano under the scientific guidance of Professor Marco Taisch, an international expert in the digital transformation process of the manufacturing sector, and was written by researcher Elisa Negri with the support of the “Industry 4.0″ paradigm.
Alessandro Zucchi, President of ACIMIT, explained how the project came about: “A group of member companies believes that it is necessary to recommend machines that can communicate with each other in a common language, so as to promote the integration of these machines in the customer’s internal data operating system (ERP, MES, CRM, etc. ). Therefore, we turned to Professor Taisch to jointly define a project that may be useful to all manufacturers in the industry, thus accelerating their digitalization process.”
Professor Marco Taisch commented: “The new technologies being developed today will become more and more important for manufacturers. The ability to use sensors that can read data for predictive analysis and the ability to connect machines-the so-called Internet of Things (IOT) )-Is a technology based on information concepts that can be used to collect data, analyze it, and use such data in business processes. The goal of this project of ACIMIT is to work together and take advantage of the competitive advantages proposed to its member companies , Which in turn allows to rethink the KPI measurement systems adopted within each company and adapt them to the standard language shared by the wider community.”
In the long term, the project aims to build customer loyalty, thanks to a shared vision of machine data and easier and more unified integration of information from machines from different manufacturers in the operating system of the client company. All these will be embodied in the creation of the ACIMIT digital label, which is a digital certificate for the compliance of member companies using this data model.
Taisch added: “The idea of digital labeling is that it will provide customers with an easy-to-understand continuous flow of information. Most importantly, it will allow the development of more services and new business models to achieve greater value within the industry. Competitiveness.”
Zucchi concluded: “Our suggestion to Italian textile machinery manufacturers is to use the common language provided in the model to allow their machinery to communicate. By providing a single data model for the interface between the machine and the production system, the entire Italian textile The machinery supply chain will benefit from this-their customers will also benefit from facilitating the collection and integration of machine data and simplifying business analysis.”
